Objectives, activities and results expected/achieved

CARPIAVE lda. launched an individual internationalization project in the context of encouraging the internationalization of SMEs under the Portugal 2020 program.

Its strategy is to launch, with its broader portfolio (thanks to the revolution at the productive level that will occur), in French-speaking countries, such as France (whose NIV will have an 8% weight), Belgium (6% NIV ), Switzerland (3% NIV) and Luxembourg (2% NIV), as well as in Spain (11% NIV).

The internationalization process will take place through a model of direct export (via distributors or to the final customer) and will include all its services (in the manufacture of wooden furniture, standardized or made to measure) and products (own brand).


The strategic definition of the countries was based on economic characteristics, market growth and the purchasing power of the population, but also on the presence of important Portuguese communities, through which the company will, in an initial phase, promote the company and the brand.


The strategic objectives of the company with this project are as follows:

  • Launch on the international market as a direct exporter in the markets of France, Spain, Switzerland and Belgium, reaching a NIV of 30%
  • Creation of your own brand that communicates your values of quality and flexibility
  • Qualification of a new production unit that allows the diversification of its portfolio of products and services
  • Expansion of its customer portfolio (in size, value, geography and typology)
  • Implementation of marketing tools and digital economy, with consequent hiring of HR.

As contractual obligations (clause 4 of the acceptance term) the company must achieve an export value in the volume of Business equal to or greater than 30.00%.
